Andrew Hellmers is the pastor at First United Methodist Church, Watauga. He joined the team in 2023, and has found the congregation to be extremely warm and welcoming. Pastor Andrew has worked as a teacher and as a marriage and family counselor. He has worked with couples, young people, children, and vulnerable people. At previous churches, he specialized in group activities and care ministry. In addition to connecting with people in the local church, Pastor Andrew loves mission work. He has worked in multiple countries around the world, as well locally, with the problems of poverty and homelessness in Fort Worth.
Being new in Watauga, Andrew very much wants to know every member, as well as learn more about the city. He needs people to teach him the history of the church, and to tell him about your hopes and dreams for our future. So, please, reach out to him and let him buy you a cup of coffee.
Pastor Andrew is from New Orleans, grew up in Slidell, Louisiana, and went to Louisiana State University. After college he came to Fort Worth for grad school where he studied counseling, and will soon be a Master of Divinity student at Brite Divinity School.
Andrew has been married to Diana for 16 years. They have one child, Luke. As a family, they enjoy outdoor activities, playing board games together, and hanging out with friends.
Andrew’s favorite hobby is racquetball, and he’s been slowly learning guitar this year. He also enjoys other racquet sports, mountain-biking, driving go-karts, video games, and new experiences.
